Dr. Pfeiffer Welcomes You to the 2025–26 School Year!

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year, Federal Way Public Schools!

We are so excited to see all our returning students and welcome those who are new to our district.  I hope you had a restful summer break and took time to enjoy friends, family and doing what you love.

I want to recognize several teams who worked tirelessly this summer to make sure we were ready to go for this school year. Our teams were cleaning and preparing our facilities, grounds, buses, hiring and training staff, updating our technology, communicating with families, feeding our students, preparing and providing professional development, getting our classrooms ready and preparing a budget for the year ahead. Thank you, Team Federal Way, for ensuring we are ready!

This year, we’re focused on our three Key Priorities:

  • Ensuring our young people engage in rigorous, high-quality, student-centered learning in every classroom every day across every grade;
  • Providing strong multi-tiered systems of support for student learning, which means identifying students who needs greater challenges or targeted extra help in a certain skill
  • And continuing to champion the whole child –ensuring students feel seen, valued and heard with a focus on strategies like building a positive school community through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Social-Emotional Learning, and a focus on strong attendance, all of which contribute to overall scholar well-being and success.

This school year will be filled with so many opportunities and experiences, with our young people having access to innovative programs and pathways, from dual language immersion in Spanish and Korean, to STEM and robotics with hands-on coding and engineering, and our arts, music, and theater programs. And they will also have opportunities to explore our Career and Technical Education offerings in healthcare, business, culinary arts, and the electrical, automotive and constructions trades. And we will be the only school district in the state to offer an AP Cyber Security course. There truly is something here for every learner.

This year, we’ll be sharing information about our upcoming EP&O Levy, an essential funding source for staff positions, programs and services that are not funded or underfunded by the state. Please be watching for more information soon.

With all that the new school year will bring, I invite you to stay connected with our schools through volunteering opportunities, attending musicals, concerts and theater productions, and cheering at our athletic competitions. You can also follow our journey by subscribing to our e-newsletter and following us on social media, so you don’t miss a moment of the exciting work ahead.

Again, welcome to the 2025-26 school year!

In Partnership,

Dr. Dani Pfeiffer
